Hello, my name is Kassie Dunn. I am currently a dual-major student at Sussex County Community College. I am also participating in the Ramapo 3+1 Program. I have earned two associate’s degrees from Sussex: one in Criminal Justice and the other in Psychology. I am continuing my studies toward bachelor’s degrees in both fields. I am in my final semester of the program at Sussex and will be transitioning to Ramapo College this fall to complete my undergraduate education.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I also serve as the Vice President of the Criminal Justice Club. In this role, I have organized and led numerous events that support both our campus and the community alike. One of the projects I founded is the Community Clean-Up Event, where students volunteer their time to collect litter around campus and throughout Newton. We then collaborate with the Town of Newton to ensure proper disposal of trash and recyclable materials. We also donated a portion of the proceeds collected from this event to the homeless community in Newton to help them out in any way possible.

I also had the privilege of interning with the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office. This experience has been invaluable, providing me with firsthand insight into the criminal justice system and further solidifying my commitment to the field. I am incredibly grateful for the knowledge and professional growth I have gained, which will continue to guide me throughout the remainder of my academic and professional journey.

With my degrees, I would like to pursue a career as either a forensic psychologist or a child therapist. As a forensic psychologist, I hope to contribute to the development of criminal profiles that assist law enforcement in identifying and apprehending individuals who have committed serious offenses. Alternatively, I am deeply interested in becoming a child therapist, working directly with young victims of traumatic and heinous crimes to support their healing and recovery.

Although I have narrowed my goals to these two paths, I am confident that whichever direction I choose, the strong academic foundation and invaluable experiences that I have gained at Sussex County Community College will continue to guide and support me throughout my professional career.
