Eighteen talented student artists showcased their exceptional creativity in the PAC Atrium during the 2025 Juried Student Art Show at Sussex County Community College (SCCC). The Opening Reception, held on Friday, May 2, drew a vibrant crowd of over 50 attendees, including students, family members, friends, faculty, alumni, and community supporters.
The event marked a celebration of both artistic excellence and community spirit. Janet Cunniffe-Chieffo, this year’s show coordinator, introduced a new process that included digital submissions, a faculty-led jury selection, and comprehensive event organization, from marketing to installation.
“This show celebrates the top creative achievements of our students and highlights the breadth of studio courses offered at SCCC,” said Cunniffe-Chieffo. “I’m especially proud that the exhibit was in place for our Spring Open House, giving prospective students a firsthand look at the inspiring work being created here.”
The show was highly competitive, with 80 digital submissions reviewed by a jury of 10 faculty members. Ultimately, 28 pieces were selected for display—an impressive achievement, particularly for students experiencing their first professional juried exhibition. Participants also learned how to professionally mount and present their work in a gallery setting.
Congratulations to the featured artists:
James Smith, Stephanie Kuiken, Karen Manthey, Jocelyn Hernandez, Jaimee Szulewski, Amelie Bruhns, Mia Diaz, Denise Sivulich, Gianna Dacunto, Celina Larosiliere, Samantha Amorese, Jesse Sych, Kayla Mezzina, Emma Scott, Nancy Madacsi, Sara Diaz, Kathy Brennan Hughes, and James Prior.
The exhibit will remain on display in the PAC Atrium through Graduation Day on May 14, 2025.
