Ever since Freya was young, she always had an obsession with the arts. She said, with both of her parents being artists, it was only natural for her to take after them. She spent her early life learning as much as she could from them. When Freya entered high school, things got more serious, and she quickly rose to the top of her art classes, but at the same time, she shared that she was slowly losing passion due to the pressure for art because of the strict project guidelines. She said she lost her spark, but not for long.
Things started looking up when she entered a fashion class and was instructed to create a fashion garment made out of newspaper. At that time, everyone was making ball gowns, because that's what the teacher used as an example. Not Freya! She says something changed inside and realized that art was not bound by rules. What she created was not just a garment, it was a feeling, a message. There was a purpose behind her dress. Her dress earned her praise from her teachers, applause as I walked into her class, and a display of the dress in the main hallway. After that Freya knew what she wanted to do. She creates pieces that do more than just look nice. Her dream is to study to become a fashion designer and design garments in protest of the fast fashion movement and create things that actually matter.
