On January 29th, the SCCC Gallery hosted the opening reception for the long-awaited Enchanted art exhibition, an exhibition highlighting the whimsical power of the imagination. Unlike previous exhibitions, which showcased the incredible talents of SCCC’s student body, Enchanted highlights the mesmerizing works by Sherry Fitzgerald, SCCC’s very own Chair of the Humanities Department, watercolor artist Melissa Gillem, and master beautician/artist Barbara Hart.
The opening reception, which ran from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M., saw an impressive and vibrant turnout in the form of college staff, faculty, students, and members of the public who locked eyes with the many imaginative paintings and sculptures in the same way a brush touches a canvas.
Enchanted hosts a total of 74 highly imaginative artworks. The art pieces in the exhibition range from masterfully artistic photographs from the SCCC Collection, dynamic watercolor works featuring landscapes that look as though they emerged from a dream, hair creatures made from wool fibers, and hypnotic alcohol ink paintings, displaying a dreamy range of art born from personal experience, sheer emotion, and, above all, the imagination.
Outside of the unforgettable artworks, the reception gave rise to rare yet touching moments of interaction between members of the public and the artists themselves, in which the artists answered questions and discussed their works, representing a profound occasion where the public and the art world came together.

The Enchanted exhibition will continue until the 24th of February and will remain in the SCCC Gallery located in the Art Gallery in the C-building.
